ESAB has launched OK Aristorod 12.63 HP (non-copper coated G4Si1/ER70S-6) and OK Autrod 12.64 HP (copper coated G4Si1/ER70S-6), two advanced solid wires engineered to elevate welding performance for unalloyed and low-alloyed carbon-manganese steels.
These wires are purpose-built for yellow goods and other applications where high strength and exceptional cold weather toughness are essential. Both wires deliver weld metal deposits with a yield strength of at least 500 MPa and a minimum impact value of 47 Joules at -50 degC, when used with shielding gases C1, M20, and M21. Compared to competitive wires, these high-productivity wires are easier to set up and fine tune, as well as have a more fluid weld puddle and lower levers of spatter.
"With more strengthening elements and very low impurity levels, these are ESAB's first wires meeting 'G50' requirements, the industry terminology for a minimum average yield strength of 500 MPa and impact toughness of 50 Joules at -50 degC," says Raj Kumar Singh, Global Product Manager, Solid Wire, ESAB. "Our new wires will appeal to customers requiring higher strengths in the robotic fabrication of yellow goods for construction, agricultural, mining, mobile machinery and similar applications."
Non-copper coated OK Aristorod wire can run on higher currents to maximise productivity, while the copper-coated OK Autrod wire enhances feedability and reduces tip wear. OK Aristorod 12.63 HP and OK Autrod 12.64 HP have been designated as "HP" or "High Productivity", as they are drawn on a special line to improve the geometrical properties of the wire and consistency of the surface coating, improving feeding performance.
OK Aristorod 12.63 HP and OK Autrod 12.54 HP are available in diameters of 1.0, 1.2 and 1.4 mm and packaged in 18 kg spools or Marathon Pac 250 kg or 500 kg bulk wire systems.
